(Des Moines) According to AAA, the price of regular unleaded gasoline fell eight cents, averaging $3.18 across Iowa. Prices are 47 cents lower than one year ago. The national average on Wednesday was $3.39, down six cents from last week’s price.
The price of global crude oil fell this week on the West Texas Intermediate (WTI) by $5.90 per barrel over last week, currently priced at $72.66. Brent crude oil fell by $4.08 and is currently priced at $76.87. One year ago, WTI crude sold for $80.35 and Brent crude was at $84.70.
As of Thursday, according to AAA, the price of regular unleaded gasoline averaged $3.18 across Iowa.
Retail diesel prices in Iowa fell 1 cent this week with a statewide average of $3.49. One year ago, diesel prices averaged $4.11 in Iowa. The current Iowa diesel price is 24 cents lower than the national average of $3.73.
Wholesale ethanol remained steady at $2.16. The current Des Moines Terminal/Rack Prices are $2.15 for U87-E10, $2.41 for Unleaded 87 (clear), $2.34 for ULSD#2, $2.61 for ULSD#1, and $2.02 per gallon for E-70.
Natural gas prices fell 16 cents at the Henry Hub reporting site and are currently at $2.05/MMbtu. Throughout the summer months, we will only report retail heating oil and propane prices in Iowa once a month.
