(Atlantic) The City of Atlantic has 67 street improvement projects scheduled for 2025. On Wednesday, the City Council approved the engineering agreement for Snyder and Associates on one of those projects, West 22nd Street. The projected cost of the project is just over $1.3 million. Dave Sturm from the engineering firm stated that the state is paying for most of the reconstruction.
Atlantic City Administrator John Lund says 2025 is the first year of a new cycle of street improvement projects for the City’s ten-year capital improvement Plan. Lund indicated that for the fiscal years 2025 and 2026, CIP forecasts a total investment of just over $3.4 million. He says due to the careful and precise timing of the City’s Debt Management Plan and ten-year CIP, West 22nd Street and the downtown project should be financed by local Option Sales Tax street revenues, making it a non-factor in the debt service levy and will not require property taxes service debt.

*The City Council approved the street closures for the September 27 Atlantic Homecoming parade.
*The Council approved a fireworks permit for Alan Zellmer at the August 24th Tractor Pulls at the Cass County Fairgrounds at 805 West 10th Street.
*The Council approved the first pay application of $30,975.83 for the 2024 Sanitary Sewer Rehabilitation-UV CIIP lining project north of the noddle site and south of Atlantic Carriers along the creek. On February 6, The Council approved Hydro-Klean’s bid of of $91,500.00.
*The City Council held a public hearing and approved the first reading of an ordinance vacating the 66-foot right-of-way on West Fourth Street. Rob Stamp requested the City vacate a phantom street right-of-way so he could have additional access to his property to the north. The City will have a stormwater utility easement as part of the vacating process.
