(Atlantic) Atlantic High School Alumni opened their pockets over the weekend for the Senior Alumni Scholarship Foundation.
Billie Hoover, Board Member for the Senior Alumni Scholarship Foundation, tells KSOM/KS95 News that the all-AHS Alumni banquet on Friday and golf tournament on Saturday brought in just under $13,200 in donations and pledges. Hoover says they were extremely excited with the turnout and participation.
Hoover says the SASF encourages Atlantic High School’s senior alums to honor the school that gave them their educational start through their contributions by helping provide scholarships for the next generation of graduates heading to college or trade school.
The fundraising began on Friday. The Senior Alumni Foundation partnered with “Smackdown” for an AHS all-alumni banquet at the Cass County Community Center. The evening consisted of a buffet meal and a live and silent auction. The money from the auction went to the SASF, and a forward tee fundraising event during Saturday’s golf tournament brought in an extra $1,000.
The Foundation will award five $2,000 scholarships. Donations can be made one-time, annual, or included in estate planning. One hundred percent of those donations go directly to the scholarship fund.
