(Des Moines) Tuesday, August 13th, was Farm Bureau Day at the Iowa State Fair, and it wasn’t hard to find the Farm Bureau Park. The Iowa Farm Bureau hosted its 60th Annual Cookout Contest, and the smells carried on the wind across the entire fairgrounds. Brent Johnson, president of the Iowa Farm Bureau, says the contest was full of delicious food from 50 of the state’s best outdoor cooks.
Johnson says there isn’t a better way to showcase the quality of Iowa’s meat products than with a good old-fashioned cookoff.
The annual Cookout Contest took place right outside Farm Bureau Park, which is located next to the Varied Industries building and full of activities for fairgoers to participate in.
Johnson says it’s a great opportunity to be at the fair and have discussions with people inside and outside of the ag industry.
Again, Brent Johnson of the Iowa Farm Bureau.
