(Oakland, IA) — There are 11 players on the field at one time but at Riverside there is one guy who stands out the most — Jaxon Gordon.
Last year as a Sophomore, Gordon pounded his way to 1,266 yards and 14 TD plus added 30 receptions for another 438 yards and three more scores. The result was only a 4-5 record so Head Coach Darrell Frain is looking for more help this year. One spot that is completely up in the air for Riverside is their starting quarterback and Frain says it is still a wide open battle for the starting spot
Last year, the Bulldogs won their first game 40 to nothing over West Monona, but then lost four in a row. Then they rebounded to win 3 of their last 4. Part of that is the schedule but Frain also says they didn’t have the breaks go their way
Riverside has their top six tacklers returning on defense including Senior J.C. Roller (63 tackles, 4 TFL) so there is a lot of hope for a winning season which has not happened since 2021 and Frain says the kids are beginning to believe
Riverside opens their football season on Friday, August 30 with a non district game hosting West Monona
