(Cedar Falls, IA) — UNI football is going into the season unsure of who their starting quarterback will be. Head Coach Mark Farley says it comes down to three guys vying for the starting spot — Junior Aidan Dunne from Dubuque Hempstead, Sophomore Matthew Sheckleman from Appleton, Wisconsin and transfer Sophomore Jaxon Dailey from Arkansas St. who went to Southeast Polk.
Farley says all three guys have gotten equal reps and they are all pretty close together
Up front, Senior Jared Penning from Clear Lake anchors the offensive line. Penning has been named a FCS Pre-Season All-American — he is the younger brother of former Panther Trevor Penning who is now in the NFL with the New Orleans Saints. Farley says Jared is showing NFL ability himself even though he was originally more heavily recruited than Trevor was
Also Senior Lane Pryor — a tight end from Woodbine, IA — is a Pre-Season Honorable Mention conference selection. Pryor had 11 receptions for 124 yards and a TD last year and should see more playing time this season. UNI opens their season on Saturday, August 31 hosting Valparaiso.
