(Ames) Iowa State’s head wrestling coach, Kevin Dresser, announced that CJ Carter, the 2024 junior college national champion, will be joining the Cyclone roster for the 2024-25 season, according to cyclones.com.
Dresser expressed his excitement about the addition, stating that Carter is an athletic big man, and they are looking forward to watching him progress.
Carter achieved a 19-3 record in his freshman JUCO season at Iowa Western and secured the 2024 NJCAA heavyweight title as the No. 5 seed. Notably, he upset the top seed with a score of 8-5 in the semifinals, despite trailing 4-2 with only 38 seconds remaining in the match.
Carter, hailing from Glenwood, Iowa, was a two-time Iowa High School Class 2A state runner-up and concluded his senior prep season with a 46-4 record, including 24 falls.
