(Area) — The Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association has selected the 2024 Baseball All-District teams.
For the Southwest Region, in class 3A Harlan had 4 players honored all-district. Colton Schneider was a first team selection at Utility despite being a freshman. Schneider hit .364, 1 HR, 31 RBI and was dominant as the Cyclones closer with 8 Saves and a 0.78 ERA. Harlan Senior 2B Quinn Koesters (.345, 0, 23) was a staple towards the top of the line up and was also named first team All District. Others from the Hawkeye Ten included Aaron Kreps Junior Pitcher and Brody Goesar Senior 3B from Lewis Central; Kayden Andersen Senior SS and Trent Patton Senior 1B from Glenwood and Creston had three players selected: Junior P Parker Varner, Freshman C Tom Mikkelsen and Senior Utility Cael Turner.
Second team selections in 3A included Senior Pitchers Braydon Ernst and Caleb Schleis from Harlan plus Senior OF Matthew Sorfonden with the Cyclones. Lewis Central Junior Brady Hetzel and Creston Senior Sam Henry were both selected at Utility and Creston Senior Dylan Hoepker at 2B. Atlantic Sophomore Hudson McLaren was named Honorable Mention on the Southwest Region.
In Class 2A, the Underwood Eagles were State champions and dominated the All District team with 5 first team members and 2 players 2nd team. First team selections included Senior Pitcher Jack Vanfossan (9-0, 0.66), Senior OF Mason Boothby (.362, 3, 24, 23 SB), Junior OF Easton Robertson (.338, 0, 15), Sophomore 3B Ryker Adair (.345, 1, 25), and Sophomore Garrett Luett at Utility (.490, 3, 33; 10-0, 0.60 ERA). Second team members included Junior Cather Lucas Bose and Senior 1B Luke Seidler.
In Class 1A, Audubon Aaron Olsen was selected Second Team All-District — the Junior hit .337 with 11 RBIs for the Wheelers and was selected at Utility. AHSTW had three players honored — Senior Nick Denning at Utility hit .322 and had a 4-3 record for the Vikings and was a First team selection. Second team selections included Senior Caleb Hatch at Utility and Junior Pitcher Aiden Aikers. Coon Rapids-Bayard had 2 First Team All District selections in Sophomore 1B cal Haydon and Senior Pitcher Kolby Culbertson.
