(Atlantic) The Atlantic Fire Department, Atlantic Police, and Cass EMS responded to a house fire at 1402 Bryn Mawr in Atlantic.
Todd Glade tells KSOM/KS95 News he and his wife arrived shortly after the fire started.
Glade says flames were coming from the downstairs bedroom.
Glade says everyone including the animals, left the home safely.
Atlantic Fire Chief Tom Cappel said that heavy smoke was coming from the home when firefighters arrived on the scene. He said firefighters packed up, entered the south door of the dwelling, and went downstairs to where the fire originated.
Chief Cappel says that after speaking with the residents, it appears a burning candle downstairs started the fire. They will continue their investigation. Three youths were in the house at the time of the fire, and they were all safe.
Chief Cappel thanked the firefighters for doing what they do, the Atlantic Police Department for helping block off the street, and Cass EMS for checking out the occupants.
