(Atlantic) Atlantic Executive Chamber Director Bailey Smith, speaking at the Atlantic City Council meeting, stated that all housing needs are met for RAGBRAI’s overnight stay in Atlantic on July 22. Bailey Smith says 16,000 registered bicycle riders and another 10,000 non-registered riders will be rolling into town. Smith also mentioned that there will be 34 food vendors, and many churches will provide meals. She says a map of everything RAGBRAI can be found at atlanticragbrai.com.
Smith announced that all the entertainment for the event will be downtown, so all the streets and sidestreets will be closed on Monday, July 22. Smith has 211 volunteers signed up and could use 30 or more people to help at the information center, traffic control, and trash pickup. Volunteers receive a free pumpkin orange T-shirt.
Three stages will be set up at different locations: one at 7th and Chestnut, another in front of Wells Fargo, and the third in front of the ShiftATL building. Additionally, there will be two beer gardens, one at Sixth and Chestnut and the other at 4th and Chestnut. The beer garden at 4th and Chestnut will be relocated to City Park at 6:00 p.m. Santa’s Cabin will be open from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. for all the children in town, with Santa himself in attendance. There will be live entertainment all day.
