(Anita, IA) – The CAM Cougars sit with a record of 10-7 on the year after dropping two of their last three games to Coon Rapids-Bayard and Woodbine with a win against Exira-EHK between them. The Cougars will play against Riverside in the first round of postseason play at home. CAM has three regular-season games left to fine-tune some things before their contest against Riverside.
Head coach Drew Ticknor is satisfied with the season up to this point but knows there are some things they can still work on.
The Cougars have been fueled by their hitting this season batting .345 as a team and posting an on-base percentage of .476, leading the Rolling Valley Conference in both categories. Senior Jack Follmann has been leading the team this year with a batting average of .451. As a team CAM has five batters batting over .300 this season and eight batters with an on-base percentage of .400 or better.
The bats have been leading the team to victory this season and Ticknor is happy with the improvement from last year.
The Cougars’ first postseason game is on July 6th against Riverside. If CAM wins, they will likely play Woodbury Central. The other side of the bracket is very familiar to the Cougars with a couple of conference teams on the other side.
Ticknor knows CAM will have to be at their best to make a deep run this postseason.
The Cougars will play Friday in Dunlap against Boyer Valley starting at 7:30 p.m.
