(Creston, IA) – Southwestern Community College has officially named Darryl Fletcher as their new Head Men’s Basketball Coach. He formally served as the assistant men’s basketball coach at Iowa Lakes Community College in Estherville from 2020-22.
During his time at Iowa Lakes, he showed strong player recruitment that included two all-conference players and the most valuable player of the conference tournament. He helped lead a team that was named ICCAC Tournament Champions while finishing third in the NJCAA Division II National Tournament. Fletcher also coached at NDSCS, a team that had a 31-2 record and was one of the top defensive teams in the nation.
Athletic Director, Paul Purvis, was more than excited to see Fletcher jump into the role, “Darryl came highly recommended by the conference,” stated Purvis. “Already in the days since his election, he has hit the ground running to begin recruitment and establish the plan for 2024-25. We are confident the men’s basketball program is in very capable hands.”
Fletcher prides himself in the ability to identify talent and develop players to the fullest potential and holds a bachelor’s degree in Sports Management.
