(Des Moines, IA) – Drake women’s basketball is prepared to have another Monohan on the court in the 2025 season. Sister of Maddie Petersen (formally Monahan), Mylea Monohan, will be headed to Des Moines to follow her sister’s footsteps and play for the Drake Bulldogs.
Mylea has played basketball for Glencoe-Silver Lake High School in Minnesota. Her sister, Maddie, has been her head coach after their father, Jeff Monohan, coached for a number of years at the same institution. Mylea has been part of a team that went 23-8 last year and 8-0 in their respective conference this past season. Available stats are limited for Glencoe-Silver Lake High School but expect to see the same play that Maddie Petersen had on the hardwood for Drake.
Her sister, Maddie, was an astonishing player at Drake University. She was named to the All-MVC First Team, and MVC Scholar-Athlete First Team, and was nominated for the National Senior CLASS Award throughout her senior year alone. Throughout her career, she averaged 7.1 points, 1.5 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game.
Mylea will be graduating next year in 2025 as she’ll jump into her final year of high school basketball.
