(Des Moines) Iowa has a good supply of electric power to handle the hotter-than-normal weather this summer.
Rob Allerman, Senior Director of Power Analytics at Enverus. MISO, the Midcontinent Independent System Operator, distributes power across much of the Midwest, including Iowa. Allerman says MISO has more power supply than demand. That lowers electric prices and means there is less chance of brown-outs on summer’s hottest days.
Miso is an independent, not-for-profit, member-based organization focused on managing the flow of high-voltage electricity across its region, facilitating one of the world’s largest energy markets, and planning the future grid. Their mission is to manage the reliable delivery of low-cost wholesale energy for distribution to the 45 million people living in the region.
