(Des Moines) Two rounds of showers and storms are possible this afternoon and evening.
According to the National Weather Service, round one will be a broken line of showers and storms expected to drop into northern Iowa this afternoon. The storms will gradually track south and east into the evening hours, with strong to severe storms possible.
There is a possibility of additional thunderstorm development over northern Iowa late this evening into tomorrow morning, with a remaining potential for strong to severe storms.
Large hail and damaging winds remain the primary threats, though a tornado or two cannot be ruled out over northern Iowa.
