(Atlantic) Senator Chuck Grassley held a town hall meeting at the Iowa Western Community College Cass County campus in Atlantic this (Tuesday) morning.
Grassley is taking the opportunity to travel Iowa as part of his 99 county tour while briefly out of session due to the Memorial Day holiday. After this week, he will have 42 counties left to go this year.
In his opening remarks, Grassley spoke about how people are getting frustrated with Washington D.C. because “they don’t get a lot done and solve the problems the way they think they should”, and Grassley said he is frustrated too.
Grassley said there is enough work for an individual Senator to do seven days a week if they wanted to work seven days a week.
Grassley spoke about the Farm Bill. He said there is not much progress in the United State Senate, but the House of Representatives put out a bill that he has not had a chance to read yet.
Another issue Grassley is working on is getting prescription drug prices down. He said this is done in kind of an indirect way with Pharmacy Benefit Managers (PBM).
Grassley’s bipartisan PBM Transparency Act with Commerce Committee Chairwoman Maria Cantwell (D-Wash.) aims to prevent unfair, anti-competitive practices by PBMs.
