(Avoca, IA) The Lady Vikes start their softball season this week with games against Audubon, Tri-Center and Riverside. AHSTW will be looking for a similar start to last year going 4-1 in their first five games. However, the Lady Vikes didn’t finish the season the way they started, finishing the year with a record of 14-18. Now they are under a new head coach, Katie Pace who in her first season is looking to develop her youth talents.
Junior pitcher Loralei Wahling will be the mainstay in the pitcher’s circle this season according to Pace. Last year Wahling finished the season with a 5-6 record appearing in 17 games.
AHSTW has been competing with some of the best schools in the area being in the Western Iowa Conference. Coach Pace is hoping that the work done throughout the year in other sports will propel her team forward this season in softball.
The Lady Vikes will play in Audubon against the Wheelers at 7:15.
