(Atlantic) Atlantic Fourth Ward City Councilman Shawn Sarsfield, speaking at Wednesday’s City Council meeting, invites fourth ward constituents to a meeting from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Venue on June 4 to get to know him and the opportunity to exchange views on critical issues facing the City, or precisely issues affecting the Fourth Ward.
In other business, the City Council approved Dan Vargason’s request to shoot off a special fireworks display on Tuesday, July 16, at 1303 Maple Street should the Atlantic Softball Team host the Regional Softball Tournament and win the game. Vargason says he is doing this at the team’s request.
Additionally, the council directed the city administrator to proceed with the legal process of vacating the Phantom Right-of-Way from the corner of West 4th Street and Laurel, westbound, and terminating at the Phantom Railroad right-of-way.
The City Council also passed the third and final ordinance amending the 2013 recodification of the City Code to assist the City Officials and RAGRAI Committee in dealing with Public Health and Safety issues created by the infusion of many people into the City of Atlantic on the Registers Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa, on July 22.
