(Ankeny) Iowa Attorney General Brenna Bird announced the state’s participation in a lawsuit against California’s mandate requiring trucks to be carbon emission-free by 2042.
The mandate restricts importing and exporting goods in California to only electric trucks, raising concerns for Iowa consumers and business owners. Bird emphasized the challenges posed by electric trucks, citing longer charging times and shorter driving distances. Business owners echoed these concerns, supporting Bird’s efforts to address what they perceive as unrealistic regulations from California’s Air Resources Board.
Iowa joined the Nebraska-led lawsuit, Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Montana, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Utah, West Virginia, Wyoming, and the Arizona State Legislature and Nebraska Trucking Association.
