(Atlantic) The KSOM/KS95 News and Sports team received five awards in small market radio at the annual Iowa Broadcast News Association Awards Banquet, which the IBNA Board of Directors hosted at the Stoney Creek Hotel in Johnston.
Mandy Billings received a first-place award in the category of Spot News Coverage and second place for Best Newscast. Billings and Tom Robinson teamed up for a second-place award in Spot News Coverage. Robinson also received a second-place award in the category of Farm and Agribusiness. Zach Collins received a third-place award in sports coverage.
Mandy Billings was also re-elected to the IBNA Board of Directors, representing the southwest District.
Dave Vickers of KROS radio in Clinton received the prestigious Jack Shelley Award. Dave retired two years ago after a nearly 45-year career in broadcast journalism. He had graduated from Iowa State University and worked as a farm reporter in Austin, Minnesota. In 1983, Vickers joined KROS radio in Clinton and worked there until his retirement.
