(Cleveland, OH) – Caitlin Clark has been named the winner of the Nancy Lieberman Point Guard of the Year award. This marks the second straight season where she has been named to the award while being named a finalist for all four years of her career.
The Nancy Lieberman Award has been around for 25 years in women’s college basketball. You must exhibit leadership, playmaking, and ball-handling skills just like 1996 Hall-of-Fame player Nancy Lieberman.
The senior Hawkeye has tallied multiple awards including the AP Player of the Year, Naismith Player of the Year, ESPN National Player of the Year, The Wade Trophy, The Athletic National Player of the Year, Sporting News National Player of the Year, AP First Team All-America, USBWA First Team All-America, Big Ten Player of the Year, and First-Team All-Big Ten. She has led Iowa to the Final Four for the second straight season and helped Iowa earn their third Big Ten Championship in the last three years.
Clark currently owns a record 3,900+ points in her career and is the first Division-I player to finish in both points and assists in the same season with around 32 points and nine assists average per game. She just recorded 21 points in the last game against UConn as she looks ahead to take on the Huskies in the National Championship.
The National Championship starts on Sunday, April 7th at 2:00 p.m.
