(Adair, County) – The Adair County Board of Supervisors met on Tuesday to discuss multiple resolutions county finances, and a possible data center location.
With multiple counties doing the same, Adair County approved April as Child Abuse Prevention Month after the proclamation was brought up to the supervisors. The supervisors also talked with Nick Phillips and Lance Cummins of Applied Digital about a possible data center location. This data center would allow 40-70 jobs in Adair County as they look to start construction time around this summer or fall. Adair County Auditor, Mandy Berg, provided information on the matter.
The board also discussed to vacate a portion of Gibbon Avenue. With a culvert starting to cave in just a few years ago, the local landowner wanted to ensure that the liability wouldn’t lie on them and rather would be replaced by the county. The board officially approved that the culvert will be replaced and that portion of Gibbon Avenue will be vacated as they work with the landowner.
In other business, Mandy Berg also discussed the financial aspects of Adair County looking forward. The county is looking to get new grandstands to replace the current stands. They can use tax increment financing or the debt levy to be able to pay for it, but it is ultimately a decision by the board.
Berg lastly discussed upgrades for secondary road equipment, but the option that they’re left with is that with the current legislature, the county will likely not be able to upgrade that equipment.
