(Atlantic) Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds on Wednesday signed House File 2612 into law, which makes changes to AEA services and raises teacher salaries.
Atlantic Schools Superintendent Dr. Beth Johnsen says that increasing beginning teachers’ salaries to $47,000 in the first year and $50,000 in the second year, plus boosting teachers’ wages with 12 or more years of experience to $62,000, is historical.
Dr. Johnsen says this is exciting for our state’s teachers.
Dr. Johnsen admits it will be a bookkeeper’s challenge to figure out how to execute the additional funding. Still, she is excited for the educators and those thinking about getting into the education field.
