(Pottawattamie Co) Lucy Hough, Prevention Coordinator with Iowa State Extension and Outreach, provided an update on the Speak Up Be Safe program to the Pottawattamie County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday.
The Speak Up Be Safe program is a curriculum in each of the Pottawattamie County Schools for Pre-K through 5th Grade to provide students the skills to identify and approach a safe adult about unsafe situations.
Hough noted that the biggest type of child abuse that happens in Pottawattamie County is neglect.
Hough said this two-day program has been very successful and effective.
