(Atlantic) The Nishna Valley Family YMCA is taking over the management duties of the Sunnyside Swimming Pool this summer. On Wednesday, the City Council adopted a memorandum of understanding with the Y.
The city had a management agreement with the Y for the Sunnyside Pool since at least 2012, except last summer when the city managed the pool. That management team is not returning for the 2024 season. So the City contacted the Y for their experience with aquatics and pool management to keep the pool running smoothly.
The new management agreement includes lifeguards pay of $15.00 per hour, a pool manager at an hourly pay of $25.00 per hour, and a $20,000 management fee.
All lifeguards will be employed, hired, trained, provided with uniforms, and scheduled through the Y. The city will reimburse the Y for the lifeguards’ wages, the pool manager’s fee, and the management fee. The city will be responsible for all other costs associated with running Sunnyside Pool.
