(Monona Co) A South Dakota man was injured in a two-vehicle accident in Monona County Monday evening.
The Iowa State Patrol says at approximately 10:09 p.m., a 2012 Honda Accord, driven by David Martinez of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, stopped with no lights on in the right lane of southbound I-29 near the 118 mile marker. A 2024 International semi, driven by 53-year-old David Chumbley, of Halbur, was traveling southbound on I-29 when he saw the Honda Accord and he swerved to the left to avoid the vehicle. However, Chumbley struck the Honda Accord, pushing it off of I-29 into the west ditch.
David Martinez was transported to UNMC by Wings Air Care.
