(Pottawattamie Co) Two people were taken into custody following a car jacking and shooting in Pottawattamie County.
The Pottawattamie County Sheriff’s Office says on Sunday, March 3rd, at around 8:00 p.m., the Communications Center received a report of suspicious activity in the area of 2704 Kanesville Boulevard in Council Bluffs. When Council Bluffs Police Officers arrived they found a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound to his abdomen. Their initial investigation led them to a scene off of Railroad Highway north of Council Bluffs in the Pottawattamie County Sheriff’s Office jurisdiction. Deputies were then requested to respond.
Deputies discovered that the victim had been car jacked at the Smith Game Reserve off of Railroad Highway. The victim was taking two other males on a test drive of his vehicle that he was attempting to sell on Facebook. They stopped at the Smith Game Reserve to take photos of the vehicle. At that time, the victim was assaulted and shot and the two males left with the vehicle. The victim was picked up by a passerby and taken to the area of 2704 Kanesville where law enforcement and medics responded. The victim was transported to University of Nebraska Medical Center for treatment. His injuries are not life threatening at this time.
The stolen vehicle’s information was disseminated to surrounding law enforcement agencies. The vehicle occupied by two males was located by the Missouri State Patrol in the area of St. Joseph, Missouri. The vehicle has been held for further investigation. The two males were taken into custody for possession of the stolen vehicle. Sheriff’s Office investigators went to Missouri to continue the investigation. The identity of all the parties involved will be released at a later date.
