(NAFB) For more than a decade, Congress has prevented U.S. public schools from serving whole and 2% milk to students. Now, parents, physicians, dieticians, and the dairy community are pushing back, and Congress is listening. Matt Herrick, a senior vice president at the International Dairy Foods Association says new legislation that would reinstate whole and 2% milk back in schools is gaining momentum.
The International Dairy Foods Association released new polling of parents who are near unanimous in their support of the Whole Milk for Healthy Kids Act. Herrick says parents are key to making sure the bill passes Congress this year.
Herrick says that IDFA and the dairy community need the support of all stakeholders to get the bill passed during this calendar year.
