(Atlantic) Kasey Meneely, DPT, will appear at the February 15 Healthy U session to present information on the LSVT BIG one-on-one training for people with Parkinson’s disease or other neurological conditions, emphasizing the quality and largeness of movement.
Meneely says Parkinson’s disease is a progressive disorder that affects the nervous system and the parts of the body controlled by the nerves. Symptoms start slowly. The first symptom may be a barely noticeable tremor in just one hand. Tremors are typical, but the disorder may also cause stiffness or slowing of movement.
Meneely says the acronym (LSVT) stands for Lee Silverman Voice Treatment, named after the man who developed this as a speech protocol.
Meneely graduated from Creighton University in 2016 with her Doctorate in Physical Therapy. She offers a full spectrum of care within physical therapy but has a particular interest in neurological disorders, pelvic floor and pre/post-natal health, and acute inpatients.
The session will be held on February 15 at noon in the Conference Room at Cass Health.
