(Austin, TX) – The #12 Iowa State Cyclones went from a tough loss at Baylor last weekend to a hard-fought win at Texas as the Cyclones came out on top 70-65. This marked just the first win in Austin since 2015 and the third win in ISU history.
Iowa State was led on the night by freshman Milan Momcilovic with 13 points and five rebounds while he shot 4-9 from the field. Just a point behind him was Tamin Lipsey with 12 points while he also hauled in seven boards, dished out five assists, and swiped away four steals. With 11 points on the night was Curtis Jones, as he shot just 4-10 from the field to finish off the night. Keshon Gilbert finished off top scorers with eight points while pulling down seven rebounds.
For Texas, the Longhorns were led in scoring by Dylan Disu as he was the game-leader with 28 points and 10 rebounds for a double-double. Disu also had three steals and shot 10-19 from the field. Behind him was Max Abmas as he put down 13 points, seven of which came from the charity stripe as he went 7-7 from the free-throw line. Dillon Mitchell finished off double-digit scorers with 10 points while he hauled in five rebounds.
Looking at the stats overall, Texas shot right with the Cyclones at just over 40% while Iowa State went 6-17 from beyond the arc and Texas went just 3-14. The Cyclones had the advantage on turnover points with an 18-6 advantage while the bench brought the energy with a 24-9 advantage.
Iowa State currently sits at 17-5 overall and 6-3 in conference action. The Cyclones will return to action this Saturday, February 10th with a 1:00 p.m. tipoff as the Cyclones look to stay undefeated at home.
