(Iowa City, IA) – The Iowa Hawkeyes had a top win on Friday when they beat Ohio State 79-77. Iowa now leads the series overall at 85-84 against Ohio State as they’ve won six of the last ten meetings.
Iowa was able to hold tight with Ohio State as no team went above five points throughout the entirety of the competition.
Iowa was led on the night by Tony Perkins with 20 points as he was the game-leader on the night. He has now scored 20+ points in the last five games. Behind him was Payton Sandfort with 15 points while he went 7-10 from the field and tied his career-high of two blocks on the night. Josh Dix also put down 15 points on the night, with 10 of the 15 points scored in the second half. Patrick McCaffery put down 10 points while he went 8-8 from the charity stripe.
For the Buckeyes, Jamison Battle put down 17 points as he went 6-13 from the field while he hauled in three boards. Felix Okpara had 14 points on the night while he went 5-7 from the hardwood. Bruce Thornton also put down 14 points on the night while shooting 4-8 from the hardwood. Coming up behind Thornton was Roddy Gayle Jr. as he had three assists and put down 12 points.
Iowa shot well from the field at 54.7% and shot just 10 times from beyond the arc, knocking down three. The Hawkeyes will return to action on Thursday, as they’ll take on Penn State at 6:00 p.m.
