(Massena, IA) – S.W.A.T. is headed to the IGHSAU Girl’s State Wrestling tournament in Coralville with six girls qualifying after a team second-place finish on Saturday at the Regional Tournament with 203 points. Head Coach Tiffany South was more than proud of what her girls accomplished on the mats even if they may not have finished in the top four. These girls gave it their all.
Let’s take a look at the six wrestlers that will be in the State Finals in Coralville with their finishes from last week. Jazz Christensen (100) finished in 2nd, Mia South (140) in third, Stella Beattie (155) in fourth, Grace Britten (170) in second, Ellen Gerlock (190) in second, and Haley Armstrong (235) in fourth place. These will be all the girls going to Coralville to compete for the top spot.
Even with a few girls not making it to state, there were still a few top-six finishers on Saturday including Destiny Fry (105), Addison Herr (110), and Cadence Kinzie (140) all finished in fifth place last Saturday. While not being able to go to the State Tournament to compete, these three are just a few of the many wrestlers who fought to make S.W.A.T. successful this season.
