(Iowa City, IA)- The tenth-ranked Minnesota men’s wrestling traveled to Iowa City for a late-night Big Ten beatdown from the fourth-ranked Iowa team on Monday night. The Hawkeyes would control their first hosted Monday night dual since 2016 from the beginning as they would rout the Golden Gophers 22-9 and win all but three matches. The only bonus points of the night for either side would be a 13-2 major decision victory for Iowa’s unranked Patrick Kennedy over unranked Sam Skillings of Minnesota at 174 lbs. However, the match of the night would be the Hawkeye debut of dual-sport athlete and Iowa City native Ben Kueter at 285 lbs as he notches a decision victory over #29 Bennet Tabor of Minnesota, 5-3. 133-pounder Kale Peterson would also make his Hawkeye debut as he wrestled unattached as a part of the Soldier Salute tournament earlier this season. The Hawkeyes now move to 7-0 on the season and 2-0 in the Big Ten action. Iowa returns to the mat against the Purdue Boilermakers this Friday at 7 pm at Carver-Hawkeye Arena in Iowa City.
