(Ames, IA) – Awards and Audi just sound like a perfect combination as Iowa State’s Audi Crooks was named the Big XII Freshman of the Week. This is the first award for Crooks in her career and the first award for a Cyclone this season for women’s basketball.
The freshman led the Cyclones with 21 points while going 9-10 from the field in Iowa State’s 105-68 win over Troy just yesterday. Crooks’s field goal percentage tied a fourth-best by a Cyclone freshman in Iowa State history. She currently leads the team in scoring with 16.1 points per game and has shot 67% from the field.
When you take a look at national rankings, Crooks is eighth among NCAA freshmen in points per game this season in Division I basketball. The scoring leader for Iowa State also is third in the Big XII in field goal percentage and ranks seventh nationally. She currently is the only freshman in the nation to average double-digits in every game while also shooting 65% or better from the floor.
Iowa State returns to action for their final non-conference game of the season against the UNI Panthers on Wednesday, December 20th at 6:30 p.m.
