(Guthrie Center) Last week, the Guthrie Center School Board approved an early retirement incident package. Schools Superintendent Josh Rasmussen says the board has used this policy in past years to help reduce spending in the general fund.
The early retirees get 50 percent of their base salary up to $24,000 into a tax shelter annuity and can stay on the school’s insurance plan at their expense. Ten teachers are currently eligible for the policy.
In other business, Rasmussen says the school board applied to the SBRC for open-enrolled students, not included in last school year’s enrollment, who moved into the district following the previous year’s count. The total amount coming back into the district is $31,083.00.
The School Board also approved the resignations of Tom Bates, High School Custodian, and Renee Baier, High School Night Custodian. Additionally, the School Board approved contracts for Christina Wilson, High School Cheer Sponsor, and Beck Wahl, High School Cheer Volunteer.
