(Tampa, FL) – The Nebraska volleyball team will be taking on Texas today in the NCAA Championship in their third Championship game against the Longhorns. Nebraska has won the last two championships between the two as they beat Texas 3-1 in 1995 and 3-0 in 2015.
Nebraska comes into the game as the #1 seed as they won the Big Ten title outright with a 19-1 record with their only loss to Wisconsin. They have now won four Big Ten titles since joining the conference in 2017. Nebraska comes into this match with the top defense in the nation as they have held opponents to a .135 hitting percentage which ranks first on a national level. That is due to the athletic play by Bekka Allick who has had back-to-back matches where she has had double-digit blocks as she is the first Husker to do so since 2013. Nebraska also has been averaging 14.03 kills per set which ranks 12th in the nation in offense.
This match marks the eighth time in the last nine seasons that at least one of these teams has played in the NCAA Volleyball Final. The only one to not feature the Huskers or the Longhorns was in 2019 between Wisconsin and Stanford. Nebraska is 3-4 against Texas in the NCAA Tournament as they have had four straight losses in the tournament to the Longhorns. Texas has won 11 consecutive NCAA matches in the tourney with their last loss to the Huskers in 2021.
This match will start at 2:00 p.m. today as the Huskers and the Longhorns battle in the NCAA Championship match.
