(Maryville, Missouri) Atlantic Alum and Iowa Central Community College track standout Taylor McCreedy, who took her talents to Northwest Missouri State University as a long-distance runner, may have landed a new event, this one a little shorter distance.
The Bearcats opened the Indoor season on Saturday at their home track at the Mel Tjeerdsma Classic. The meet was geared mainly around sprint and middle-distance races, so the coaching staff gave her the option of running the mile, and she posted an impressive performance. The eight-time Junior College All-American showed she could hang with the shorter distance runners, with an indoor meet time of 4:58.90, second place out of a field of 15. McCreedy’s teammate, Alyna Thibault, won the race in 4:58.21.
McCreedy’s time was six seconds better than her career best. Both times go down as the third, and fourth fastest in Bearcat history.
