A big start to the season as Audubon hosted a quad-dual featuring AHSTW, Logan-Magnolia, and Woodbine on November 30th. The big contest would be which of the two area teams would come out on top between Audubon and AHSTW. The Wheelers were able to earn their revenge for the dual loss last year at this same quad-dual to the Vikings as they started the night with a 45 to 24 dual win over AHSTW. The main problem for AHSTW in that dual and the following ones of the night would be the mismatch of wrestlers at empty weight classes. Even after a dual loss to Logan-Magnolia, that wouldn’t stop coach Evan Hansen from picking up his first dual victory as head coach of AHSTW over Woodbine, 42 to 24, to end the night for the Vikings. Audubon would defeat Woodbine by a forfeit as a pin from the Tigers’ Rylee Luth over the Wheelers’ Josten Kilworth would tie the dual at 36 a piece heading into the last match but Woodbine was left with an open weight class for a 42-36 dual victory for Audubon. In the final dual of the night, we would also have the match of the night. With a victory already in hand for the dominant Panthers of Logan-Magnolia, both crowds and teams would be the loudest and most vocal for the match between Audubon’s Jerix Squires and Logan-Magnolia’s Jasper Hopkins at heavyweight. The match would go all three periods and ended with a 19-10 major decision for Squires, erupting the Audubon crowd, as the Wheelers ultimately fell to the Panthers 66 to 15.
