(Area) While you are preparing for your thanksgiving feast, it is important to keep food safety in mind.
Cass County Public Health Director Beth Olsen said these are simple tips you should be thinking about all of the time while cooking.
Olsen said by now you should have started thawing out your turkey, it’s not good to thaw it out under warm running water, or on the counter, so you’re not cooking a turkey that is still frozen or a turkey that has been out at room temperature for too long.
If you’re going to put food in the refrigerator and heat it up the next day or later, the rule of thumb is “four day-throw away” to avoid foodborne illness from leftovers that have been sitting in the refrigerator for too long.
