(Washington, DC) — More than half of Americans are struggling to pay for health care. A new Commonwealth Fund survey shows that health care is unaffordable for many working-age adults, even those with employee-sponsored insurance. Of those who purchased insurance on their own, including on the Affordable Care Act marketplaces, 57-percent said they had difficulty paying for health care this year. The survey found that costs are forcing many to skip medical care altogether, with almost 40-percent saying they opted out of needed medical care or prescription drugs over the past year because they couldn’t afford it.
