(Iowa City, IA) – The Iowa Hawkeyes have announced that they will be without their starting quarterback throughout the remainder of the 2023 season. Cade McNamara tore his ACL in the game against Michigan State last Saturday and will not be able to return this season.
Head coach Kirk Ferentz made the report on the quarterback in a press conference yesterday. McNamara had been putting up good offensive numbers for the Hawkeyes with 505 yards passing, four touchdowns, and just three interceptions this season.
Quarterback Deacon Hill will take over the starting duties after he helped the Hawkeyes in their 26-16 win over Michigan State. Hill threw 11-27 for 115 yards and earned his first career touchdown. Before last Saturday’s game, the sophomore had never made a passing attempt in a collegiate game.
Iowa will take on Purdue this Saturday at home with a kickoff at 2:30 p.m.
