(Ames, IA) – With multiple players accused of underage gambling, one player comes out on top. Deshawn Hanika had his case dismissed on Monday after he was accused of underage gambling. The Story County judge dismissed the case after the prosecution agreed that the former Cyclone did not tamper with records and looked to dismiss the case in September.
Deshawn Hanika had wagered on multiple Iowa State basketball games totaling 70 on the basketball teams and 288 illegal bets overall. He did not bet on Iowa State football, but if he were to he would have been charged by the NCAA and lose his eligibility. Hanika remains on the roster, but likely will not see the field for Iowa State.
