(Audubon) Open burning is prohibited in Audubon County. Audubon County Emergency Management Coordinator Tyler Thygesen submitted the request to the State Fire Marshall’s Office and, following their investigation, found conditions in the County constitute a danger to life or property.
The order states no person shall engage in open burning in Audubon County effective immediately, except specifically permitted by Iowa Code 100.40(3). The open burn ban is in effect until conditions no longer threaten life or property.
Violating the burn ban could result in a simple misdemeanor charge.
