(Pottawattamie Co) Corporal Kurt Ferguson with the Pottawattamie County Sheriff’s Office has started his duties as a shared School Resource Officer in Pottawattamie County.
AHSTW School Superintendent Darin Jones said the rural school districts were approached by the Sheriff’s Office earlier this spring to see if they would be interested in such a position. He said Treynor, Underwood, Tri-Center, Riverside and AHSTW met together and all thought it would a be a great idea.
Jones said having a School Resource Officer will help build relationships, among other things.
Jones said they appreciate Pottawattamie County and their efforts to create and fund this position for the five school districts this school year.
