(Scott Co., IA) — A Bettendorf woman who pleaded guilty to receiving money after falsely claiming she had cancer is being ordered to pay tens of thousands of dollars in restitution. Madison Russo is scheduled to be sentenced in October. Authorities say Russo received more than 37-thousand-dollars from donors on a GoFundMe account over false claims that she had pancreatic cancer. Medical records showed she was never diagnosed with any kind of cancer. Russo has been ordered to pay nearly 40-thousand-dollars, with GoFundMe to receive more than 36-thousand-dollars.
