(Des Moines) The latest U.S. Drought Monitor showed a slight improvement in the dry weather conditions plaguing Iowa over the past several years.
“Overall, there has been a slight improvement,” stated Kristy Carter, a meteorologist with the National Service in Des Moines. “She says the most improvement is in northeast and east central Iowa. She says there has been some improvement in the D3 and D4 drought areas in extreme western Iowa.”
The cool and wetter pattern is not going to last. “Unfortunately, over the next week, rain chances are slim to none,” said Carter. “Conditions may not improve next week, and we will continue to monitor the hot and dry forecast next week.”
The high temperatures are expected to reach the low to upper 90s next week.
