(Iowa City) University of Iowa defensive lineman Noah Shannon remains under investigation for possible gambling issues. Shannon was supposed to attend the Big Ten Media Days in Indianapolis next week but told Hawkeyes head coach Kirk Ferentz that Ferentz should pick another player to represent the school given the circumstances. Shannon is the first Hawkeye to be named in the sports gambling investigation that pointed the finger at over three dozen University of Iowa and Iowa State University athletes. He could be suspended for some or all of the upcoming season pending the results of the NCAA’s investigation.
