(Guthrie Center) The Guthrie County Board of Supervisors met Tuesday morning.
Board member Maggie Armstrong opened discussion about Firework Permits, saying she believed the current firework permit and process was outdated. “Anyone can shoot off consumer fireworks, so there’s no real need for a permit,” she stated during the meeting on Tuesday morning. They also suggested that a larger number of people used fireworks in recent time than permits were issued. At this time, there was no motion for a resolution. The board is looking to revise or dissolve the current permit.
In other discussion, the 28E Agreements with Adair, Audubon, and Cass Counties were approved. County Environmental and Public Health Director Jotham Arber explained changes to the agreements
The billing process was also changed from quarterly to monthly. All three agreements were approved.
The Board’s next meeting is July 25th.
