(USDA) The USDA’s latest crop condition report released on Monday afternoon showed the condition of the nation’s corn and soybean crops is looking better. Nationwide, the good-to-excellent corn condition rating improved by two percentage points, and soybeans improved by four percentage points.
Nationally, corn is rated 57 percent good-to-excellent, up from last week but seven percent lower than last year. Iowa’s corn crop looks the best with a 64-percent good to excellent rating. Illinois is rated 41 percent good to excellent. The corn crop in Missouri and Michigan is in the worst shape, with a 30-percent and 40-percent good-to-excellent rating, respectively.
The nation’s soybean crop is rated 55 percent good-to-excellent as of Sunday, up four-percent from the previous week but lower by six percentage points from last year. Iowa’s soybean crop is rated 58 percent good-to-excellent, while Missouri and Michigan’s continue to suffer with a 31 percent to 34 percent good-to-excellent rating, respectively.
