(Harlan) Harlan Fire Chief Roger Bissen says for many years, Medivac provided excellent ambulance service, tiering with the county’s volunteer squads and providing advanced care. Chief Bissen says that staffing shortages and the retirement planning of Medivac Ambulance/Rescue, Bob, and Nella Seivert bring this issue to the forefront.
Bisson says the cost to the property taxpayer is 75 cents per one thousand dollars of valuation
Chief Bissen says the tax benefits of the tax increase to the county would mean EMS professionals and volunteers would receive needed critical training, updated, and means to purchase the latest lifesaving equipment and technology. And he says Law Enforcement and fire departments are classified as essential services to receive funding from the state.
The measure will be voted on during the November 7 General Election.
